Prof. Richard Chambers, former president and CEO of IIA, was conferred the title of overseas “Honorary Dean” by NAU

On July 8, NAU held the overseas “Honorary Dean” conferring ceremony. Prof. Richard Chambers, former president and CEO of IIA, was conferred the title of NAU overseas “Honorary Dean”, and he became the first overseas “Honorary Dean” in NAU’s history. Prof. Richard Chambers, Mr. WU Xiaojun, Vice secretary-general of CIIA, and Prof. YU Anping, Vice president of NAU, were present at the conferring ceremony. Deans / directors of relevant schools and departments attended the conferring ceremony. The ceremony was presided by Prof. CHEN Jun, Dean of Graduate School of NAU.

Prof. ZHOU Weipei, Dean of School of Government Audit of NAU, announced the decision that Prof. Richard Chambers was conferred the title of overseas “Honorary Dean” by Nanjing Audit University at the beginning of the ceremony. Prof. YU Anping, Vice president of NAU, and Prof. Richard Chambers then signed the MOU of “Honorary Dean” via video.


Prof. YU Anping, Vice president of NAU, addressed the ceremony by indicating that 2021 marked the 10th anniversary of Prof. Richard Chambers’ being conferred as the “Honorary Professor” of NAU in 2011. In the past ten years, Prof. Richard Chambers had visited our school many times, and made great contributions to the development of NAU’s internal audit. The ceremony today was a new starting point and marked a new step forward in the cooperation between the two sides. It would promote the all-round and in-depth cooperation between the two sides in the aspects of professional training, scientific research, international exchanges and other relevant fields. It would further strengthen the relationship between NAU and the internal audit associations and organizations in different countries and regions. It would facilitate to build the international internal audit teaching, research cooperation platform, expanding the international influence of NAU.

Dean Richard Chambers stated that it was a great honor for him to serve as NAU overseas “Honorary Dean”. Over the past decade, IIA and NAU had nurtured a very good cooperative relationship. He would endeavor to make greater contributions to the professional training, scientific research, talent cultivation and international exchanges in the field of internal audit at NAU. And he would devote to helping NAU building closer ties with internal audit field and together with CIIA and NAU, and would strive to promote the development of internal audit in China.

Mr. WU Xiaojun, Vice secretary-general of CIIA, congratulated Prof. Richard Chambers and NAU firstly on behalf of CIIA. He said, Prof. Richard Chambers, as an experienced, renowned, and influential educator in internal audit, will help integrate the international perspectives and experience with domestic teaching and research practices. The CIIA would also continue to work closely with Prof. Richard Chambers and NAU, to promote the development of internal audit in China.

Having Prof. Richard Chambers as the overseas “Honorary Dean” is an important measure for NAU to promote the internationalization of the teaching faculty in the Five Projects of the “14th five-year plan” of NAU’s internationalization, and will surely contribute to building a high-level and featured university with important influence at home and abroad.
